Whitefish, Montana is known for its Rocky Mountains, but today it is also known as the home of Kevin Collom—Stein-Holding Champion!
Kevin competed in our 14th annual Masskrugstemmen (aka Stein-Holding Competition), held every Friday and Saturday from May 6-August 19. He went against dozens of other strong-armed competitors, holding up a 1- liter stein of our authentic brew in the hopes of winning a trip to New York City. If you’ve ever tried to do this it doesn’t take long to realize it’s not as easy as it seems! Those beers weigh about five pounds, and holding it straight out in front of you (without bending your elbows or leaning back) soon becomes an issue of mind over matter.
It was down to the wire, but on the last day of competition Kevin came to our Haus and dominated with an impressive time of 12:25. He secured his spot as regional champ and will now head to the Big Apple to hold his own against other winners across the United States. If he wins he’ll become the national champion and win a trip for two to Munich, Germany. We know you can do it, Kevin!
If you didn’t get a chance to show your stuff in this competition, don’t worry! Our Oktoberfest Stein-Holding competition starts September 16 and takes place every Friday and Saturday through October 29! Nightly winners receive a six-pack of our limited Oktoberfestbier, and will also be finalists for the Grand Prize: dinner for 10 (up to a $500 value) at our Haus! Whoever holds the record after the last competition on October 29th will be crowned the champion.
